Tutti Arts

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the place now called South Australia, and all First Peoples living and working on this land. We celebrate the history and contemporary creativity of the world’s oldest living culture and pay respect to Elders – past and present. We acknowledge Kaurna, Peramangk and Ngadjuri peoples on whose lands our events and activities are imagined, planned and held. This always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.

Lewis Constantine

Here is Lewis applying printing ink to the surface of a sheet of glass, towards his first ever series of monoprints:

A series of photos showing Lewis painting on the surface of a sheet of glass.

Rather than wiping away the ink left over from previous prints, back to a clean sheet of glass, Lewis often allowed this residual ink to remain, and worked it into the next composition.

Here is a triptych which resulted from that session:

“Lewis’s works possess a visual intelligence and an urge to make and express that one cannot teach or learn or deny. Lewis is an artist … a great artist – that is as clear as anything.” – Tom Squires, Visual Artist & Mentor

“Lewis consistently demonstrates absolute originality. His ideas are never predictable or derivative; they carry a strong sense of identity and emotional resonance…He approaches art-making with confidence, and his work leaves a lasting impact because it feels entirely truthful to who he is… I can say without hesitation that he is one of the most remarkable and original artists I have encountered.” – Mural artist Ella Simpson
