Visual Arts Team Leader And Support Workers
Part Time position: Wednesdays

  • Leading disability arts organisation
  • Must have disability qualifications and skills in visual arts
  • Based at Nuriootpa in the Barossa Valley

The Team Leader will work closely with the Visual Arts Coordinator to ensure a consistent approach to supporting staff and assisting artists to achieve their goals and Tutti’s vision of being an international leader in creating opportunities for learning disabled artists.

Key Responsibilities for the Team Leader

Supported artists

  • Support individuals accessing the Tutti Visual Arts programs to participate in their chosen activities
  • Support new artists to assimilate into the program,
  • Review work produced in program and coordinate artist review and feedback sessions
  • Complete disability forms as required, eg incident reports
  • Lead the morning artist meeting

Program administration

  • Prepare and deliver activities that will develop the skills of participating artists, including but not exclusively: painting, drawing, design 3 D construction, new media, jewellery making
  • Plan program daily, brief staff and attend to feedback through the day.
  • Communicate with parents and artist staff on projects, artists goal plans, behaviour management and other issues as required.
  • Assist the Coordinator to coordinate storage and security of artworks, ensuring work is accessible for exhibition and/or sent home
  • Assist the Coordinator to coordinate archiving, using photography, labelling digital, making the records available for use in newsletter and submissions
  • Maintain art equipment, resources and materials, with consideration for access and safety
  • Manage the staff rosters to ensure adequate staff cover.
  • Ensure documentation is up to date and staff aware of any changes that impact on service delivery.
  • Support staff to grow, develop and maintain standards of excellence in all practice and outcomes
  • Support, lead and mentor staff to manage artist’s needs, behavioural issues and conflicts appropriately
  • Support and coordinate student and volunteer placements
  • Manage art sales, including payments

Other duties

  • Develop and maintain Arts Industry connections
  • Undertake training as required in disability, arts and administration.

Support workers will work with the Team Leader providing the support to artists including personal care.

Essential Requirements

  • Cert 3 in Disability Work (or equivalent)
  • Visual artistic skills (ideally a practising artist but not essential)
  • DCSI screening clearance
  • First Aid Certificate
